Palm Beach Dramaworks calls for New Script Submissions

Palm Beach Dramaworks is again seeking submissions of new, unproduced plays for its developmental lab,  The Dramaworkshop . The submission period will be open from November 1, 2016 through January 31, 2017, and the selected plays may receive any or all of the following: workshops, staged readings, and developmental productions. Interested playwrights can find guidelines and submission links on PBD’s website, .

PBD has been delighted by the quantity and quality of submissions since The Dramaworkshop was launched in 2014. Scripts are read by a company of resident artists, who choose a select few for development and remain involved throughout the process. Last year, four plays went on to various phases of development including Jennifer Fawcett’s Buried Cities, which received a full developmental production.

” My time at The Dramaworkshop was very positive,” Fawcett says. “One of the biggest needs of a new work is time: time to write, time to workshop with actors and a director in a schedule that isn’t driven by production, and time to revise. The Dramaworkshop team not only showed great faith in my work but gave me this time, and the play is all the better for it.”

Jennifer Faletto’s Domestic Animals will be given the next developmental production in January, 2017. All developmental productions, staged readings, and workshops take place in the Perlberg Studio Theatre, an intimate space designed and created specifically for The Dramaworkshop.
The ultimate goal of  The Dramaworkshop is to produce new work for PBD and stages all over the country.
